Verizon to offer unlimited iPhone data plans. What about browsing while talking?

Verizon said they would be phasing out their unlimited data plans but today, the Wall Street Journal reports these unlimited data plans will be sticking around for the iPhone. Verizon offering unlimited data plans for the iPhone is a real incentive for people debating whether to get the AT&T or Verizon model in the U.S. This is because AT&T phased out unlimited data plans when the iPhone 4 launched in June.

Another thing to think about is Verizon’s no browsing while talking restriction. AT&T allows their phone users to browse the web over 3G, for example, while talking on the phone. Reports emerged recently emerged that Verizon would soon remove the restriction, leading to increased speculation about an iPhone for Verizon. Verizon is expected to finally unveil their CDMA iPhone on Tuesday, January 11 with the device going on sale in late January or early February.

No more restocking fees at Apple Stores starting January 11

Typically, when you return an opened product to an Apple Store you will be charged a 10% restocking fee. Well, come Tuesday, this will all be in the past as Apple is cutting restocking fees from their retail chain. We’ll have to see how Apple deals with people trying to return their scratched up iPods and what the policy with iPhones will be. The 14 day return period still applies but for example if you purchase a 16 GB iPad and use it for 3 days, then want to upgrade to the 32 GB model, you won’t need to pay an additional 10% restocking fee. Oh, and January 11th?

Ludacris calls the iPad best invention of 2010, is an “Apple Guy”

It’s not Walt Mossberg, but Ludacris told CNN that he thinks Apple’s iPad is the best invention of 2010. Ludacris also says that he is “definitely an Apple guy” as he rocks (raps?) an iPhone and iPad. His favorite iOS app is Words with Friends and the most embarrassing app he has on his phone is Bubble Wrap. He jokingly said “Ludacris likes to pop the bubble wrap on his damn iPhone or iPad!” (which should be the title of this post)

Don't forget that Bill Gates himself said way back in the day, apple is the future he just though he could make a better os, and for a while it was ok but now it can't keep up with OSX!

iPhone Dev-Team Updates RedSn0w to Fix Bluetooth Issues With Untether

The iPhone Dev-Team has updated RedSn0w to fix Bluetooth issues with the 'Backup Plan' untether.

The fifth beta is now available (testers ONLY please!). Bluetooth is now working (and any sandbox-related issues should be resolved too). Please do not pirate the 4.2b3 IPSW! Only those enrolled in the iPhone Developer program have legitimate access to that IPSW.

There is actually a Windows version of beta5, but it’s excruciatingly slow compared to the Mac version because it’s forced to use files on your hard drive instead of RAM while it’s processing the very large IPSW images. It really is very very painfully slow, so we probably won’t be releasing it for testing purposes unless it can be sped up somehow.

You can download RedSn0w .0.7b5 from here. You can find instructions on how to use this version of RedSn0w to untether here.

How to Untether Your iOS Jailbreak (Mac) [4.2.1] Update

These are instructions on how to untether your jailbreak of iOS 4.2.1 using the iPhone Dev-Team's 'backup plan' method on Mac OS X.

Currently this beta is limited to iPhone4, iPad, and iPod touch 4G. Bluetooth functionality is disabled for the time being until some issues are resolved.

Requirements:
You will need to have access to the iOS 4.2b3 ipsw and your iOS 4.2b3 SHSH blobs saved. You also already need to be jailbroken on iOS 4.2.1. MAKE SURE YOU BACKUP BEFORE ATTEMPTING THIS AS IT IS A BETA!

Step One
Create a folder called Pwnage on your desktop and in it place:
RedSn0w .0.7b5 from here.
- iOS 4.2.1
(iPhone, iPad, iPod touch)
- iOS 4.2b3 *Only iPhone developers have legit access to this firmware

Step Two
Double click the RedSn0w archive to extract it. Then launch RedSn0w from the extracted folder.

Step Three
Click the Browse button

Select the iOS 4.2.1 ipsw from the Pwnage folder on your Desktop and click Open.

Click the Next button to continue.

RedSn0w will now prepare the jailbreak data.

You will now be presented with a list of checkboxes.

Select Jailbreak Monte (untether) from the list of checkboxes. You will be asked to select the iOS 4.2b3 ipsw from the Pwnage folder on your desktop then click Open. Click Next to continue.

Please plug your iPhone into the computer and make sure its OFF then click the Next button

RedSn0w will now guide you through the steps to get into DFU mode. You can find more help with DFU mode here

Hold down both the Home button and the Power button for 10 seconds.

Release the Power button and continue holding the Home button until RedSn0w detects the device.

RedSn0w will prepare Jailbreak Monte files, exploit with Limera1n, Upload RAM Disk and Kernel, and Send Jailbreak Monte files.

RedSn0w will inform you when it has completed successfully.
